The increasing demand for optical fibers with the lowest attenuation and the highest mechanical strength drives our continuous development of improved grades of fused silica. During the past decade, metallic impurities and OH content have been reduced by several orders of magnitude. In particular, high purity
substrate tubes (F500 grade) today achieve OH levels below 100 ppb.
In keeping with the "Evolution of Purity," this development continues.
